Matt Lloyd – I’m often asked by other network marketers and those in the home business industry what my secret is. They want to know what it is that I’m doing to have such a rapidly expanding organization. What type of marketing am I currently using? What am I saying on the phone to potential business partners? How much am I spending each week to promote my business?
Its funny that everyone assumes it’s something that I’m doing something on the outside.
In fact, most would be surprised if only they new that my secret was purely the way I think. It’s my thought process, that’s all it really is.
I started my own LifePath Home Business back in 2008, and boy was I clueless about what I was getting myself into.
I had never done anything like this before- but in my innocence, I thought that all I would have to do was place a few ads in the newspaper, and the money would somehow magically pour in.
Well, several months later I still hadn’t made a cent. And it began to bother me more and more. I could see myself slipping into failure, and I could just hear the voices of everyone who had ever told me that I would fail growing stronger.
So I decided that enough was enough- I wasn’t going to become a just another case of a failed network marketer. And I realized that up to that point, I had only been half in this business.
I would come home from my job, and spend maybe 30 minutes on my business, and then go and watch TV or go out with friends. What I didn’t realize was that by doing that, I was saying that my financial future was less important to me than my favorite TV show, or getting drunk with mates. That was the message I was sending out. But I realized at that point that if I was going to succeed, I was going to have to make my business a priority….
**On a side note, it’s funny how some people use the excuse that they don’t have time for their business…..Because when you think about it, everyone of us has the exact same amount of time in a day. Even billionaires like Warren Buffet and Bill Gates have just 24 hours in their day. But it’s what each of us chooses to do with those hours that determines our results. It all comes down to prioritizing- what’s more important? Growing your business and taking control of your financial future, or watching your favorite TV show?
Anyway, I made the decision that I was going to go all in on this business. At that point, I had LifePaths’ first product, Discovery. But I hadn’t yet invested in the next two products, Breakthrough and Destiny. I had been telling myself that once I saw some results, I would then make the full investment.
But that isn’t how this business works. It’s the other way around. When you make the full investment in this business (in both money and your time) then you get the results. If you’re waiting for this business to work for you, you’re going to be waiting a long time. It’s about making the business work for you.
So I got Breakthrough and Destiny the next day. With the exchange rates, ny total investment was about $38,000….it was more money than I had ever invested in my life, and represented years of frugal saving from the income I had made from a $20/ hour job. I’d be lying to you if I said I wasn’t scared. Everyone I told warned me not to get involved….”These things never work” they said.
Even my accountant was very against this- he thought it was a pyramid scheme!
But I knew that I could do it. I wasn’t going to give up, and I was going to make it work no matter what. That was my attitude, and that my friends is the big secret to success that all the top income earners know. It’s their thoughts….they don’t play the victim role, like the losers who go and post disparaging comments about network marketing companies they joined and failed with. They don’t get down on themselves and make excuses, like not having enough time, or being too old, or not knowing anything about internet marketing.
They have an unbreakable belief in themselves that they are going to succeed- and they use this belief to motivate themselves through the good times and the bad.
The great thing about beliefs are that they come from our thoughts. And we have complete control over our thoughts. So ask yourself this; “Are my thoughts leading me to where I want to go? Or are they the thoughts of anyone who ever told me that I couldn’t do it?” If you want to change where you are in life, or in your LifePath business, change your thoughts first. Only then will you get the results you want.
